Ryan Watkins' voice is not new to Christian Country fans. His first project, Southern Son, on the Red Hen Records label of Daywind Music Group in Nashville was a well received album. Ryan did not stop singing, but took some time off to raise a family with his wife Tanza, and three children, Kelbi (also an artist on Nashville Christian Country), Heidi, and Cutler. He has been traveling and singing as the Worship leader at his church and venues like The Ark Encounter. He is back with a brand new single and making appearances with his daughter Kelbi. Prior to his beginnings in Christian Country Music, Ryan, of Ider, Alabama, just outside Fort Payne, left home to make it as a country artist. He followed his heroes, Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, Jeff Cook, and Mark Herndon, from his area, who comprised the group Alabama. Like them, Ryan took off after high school to live in Myrtle Beach and sing at The Bowery for two years. Ryan was quite successful there, but something did not feel right. Having a father who was a preacher and a mother who was praying for him, Ryan began to feel uncomfortable where he was and knew he needed to go home. Like the prodigal son, Ryan went home and made a new life with a girl who had lived right by him his whole life and loved him. He just did not notice. He fell in love with Tanza, too, became a worship leader at his dad's church, and continued to sing like only Ryan can. Now he is back and along with this new single "Last Tick Tock," his full project of "Southern Son" will also begin streaming.
