KRISTY COX ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF “FRONT PORCH OF PARADISE” AND MUSIC VIDEO ON BLUEGRASS TODAY
By Charles Brady, 2024-09-08
NASHVILLE, TENN (Sept. 6, 2024) – Bluegrass sensation and Billboard top charting artist Kristy Cox announces her new single to radio, “Front Porch of Paradise” and premiere of the official music video set to debut on Bluegrass Today. This announcement comes on the heels of her latest album, Let It Burn, which recently claimed the coveted #1 spot on the Billboard Charts. Listen HERE.
Set to hit radio airwaves, the track has already captured the attention of listeners for its classic bluegrass sound and rich storytelling, celebrating the beauty of life’s simple pleasures. Songwriters Marcy Each, Susan Anderegg, and Jerry Salley blend their collective talents to create a heartfelt tribute to home.
A&R/creative director of Billy Blue Records and co-writer, Jerry Salley stated, “Growing up in the country, I guess I always took for granted how blessed I was - until I moved away from home. The lush green fields, the beautiful rows of silver queen corn, half-runner green beans and big boy tomatoes we grew were all just natural to me and my family. We called it ‘God’s Country’. A few years ago, while I was in Iowa teaching a songwriting workshop at the Strawberry Jam Camp in Strawberry Point, Iowa, one of our attendees, Marcy Each, had a great idea for a song that she called ‘Front Porch of Paradise’. She had started the song with another attendee there, Susan Anderegg, as they were paired up to co-write together at the workshop.”
He continued, “When they told me the title, I knew EXACTLY where they were coming from and I grabbed my guitar, as they were struggling a little on a melody. We worked on it together until we loved it. Luckily, when I pitched the song to Kristy for her most recent album, it also reminded her of her childhood growing up just outside of her hometown of Adelaide, South Australia. I’m so happy she loved it, because she sings the song with such beautiful conviction and has made it her own.”
Kristy Cox shared, “I loved ‘Front Porch of Paradise’ the first time I heard it. I grew up on the outskirts of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia, and have always felt more at home in the country. This song is one of those that I feel I could have written about myself, it was so easy for me to relate to it. I love the melody and the lyrics and am so thankful that Jerry, Marcy, and Susan let me record their song.”
Be sure to watch the premier of the music video on Bluegrass Today.
NASHVILLE, TENN (Aug 23, 2024) – Following their chart-topping album, acclaimed bluegrass band Chosen Road has released their latest single, “I Wish I Had One More.” The track, written by esteemed songwriters Jimmy Yeary and Terry Herd features the talents of founding band members Jonathan Buckner and Zachary Alvis, along with group members Tyler Tobertson, Bradley Parsons and Chris Stockwell. The ballad captures the emotional tug one often carries when wishing they had more time with a loved one. Chosen Road’s artistic integrity and musicianship coupled with a relatable topic will surely hit home with listeners.
"I am so thrilled that we had the opportunity to record this song, " stated Jonathan Bucker of Chosen Road. “‘I Wish I Had One More,' written by Jimmy Yeary and Terry Herd, captivated me the moment I heard it. It's a song that stops you in your tracks and makes you reflect on the little moments in life that truly matter but are so easy to take for granted. The song tells the poignant story of a son who wishes for just one more day, or even one more moment, with his dad. However, it not only brought back memories of moments spent with my dad but also memories of cherished times with grandparents and other loved ones who are no longer with us.
“In today's fast-paced society, a reminder to slow down and savor life is essential. There will come a time for all of us when we can't pick up the phone and call a friend or loved one because they are gone. We only get one chance at life, and this song reminds me of how important it is to make the most of it with those who mean the most to us. Sometimes music has a way of saying things that we just can't get out otherwise, and this song definitely did that for me. I hope it does the same for everyone who hears it."
Jerry Salley, A&R/Creative Director for Thoroughbred Records chimes in: “Songs that move you. Songs that touch you. That’s what Chosen Road is all about, and 'I Wish I Had One More' is gonna hit you right in the heart. I lost my Dad many years ago, and the first time I heard their recording of this song, it really hit me hard. It’s music with meaning. Do yourself a favor - turn it up and listen closely."
Catch Chosen Road on tour this fall before their highly anticipated, annual sold-out Appalachian Christmas Tour! This season, they’ll be bringing their unique blend of bluegrass and gospel to incredible events like Silver Dollar City, the Pennsylvania Gospel Music Festival, the Nothin’ Fancy Bluegrass Festival, and the Kentucky Wool Festival.

NASHVILLE, TN – June 28, 2024 – Billy Blue Records is thrilled to announce the release of Dave Adkins' latest single, “She Put The Go In Gone.” This energetic track, paired with the Kentucky native’s powerful voice, leaves listeners grinning as he tells the tale of a woman who is more than finished with a worn-out relationship. Co-written by Adkins’ producer, Jerry Salley, and acclaimed country songwriter, Brent Baxter, the song brings a playful twist to the relatable, yet not-so-happy theme of “leaving.”
This new release builds on the success of Dave’s earlier hit, “What I’m For,” which dominated the Bluegrass Unlimited Singles Chart, maintaining a top 5 spot for several months. Both singles are featured on Dave’s January album release, also titled What I’m For.
"‘She Put The Go In Gone’ was the very first song I chose for my new project, and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do. I am grateful to have the chance to record such a well-written, hard-driving 'leaving' song," says Dave Adkins.
Jerry Salley, Billy Blue’s Creative Director, shares his enthusiasm: “Dave Adkins sings this song like it was written for him! As a writer and producer, I feel like his voice perfectly captures the storyline of this high-energy, ‘I’m-out-of-here-and-ain’t-comin’-back,’ scenario. The smoking track complements Dave’s big vocals for sure!”
Chorus:
She put the “go” in gone
The “so” in so long
The wind blowing through her pretty blonde hair
Saw the “good” in goodbye
And didn’t even cry
When she put the “done” in his last done-her-wrong
She put the “go” in gone
Climb in the passenger seat as Dave Adkins narrates the story of a woman driving away, seeking new beginnings as she “puts more past behind her with every mile she puts on her old Ford.”

REMAKE OF CHRIS HILLMAN/BILL WILDES-PENNED DESERT ROSE BAND CLASSIC AND FEATURES LEGENDARY VIRTUOSO GUITARIST JOHN JORGENSON
NASHVILLE, TENN. (February 9, 2024) -- Acclaimed musical duo Darin and Brooke Aldridge are set to captivate audiences once again with their soulful rendition of Chris Hillman's (Desert Rose Band) classic, "Price I Pay” (aka "The Price I Pay"). Known for their exceptional vocal harmonies and instrumental expertise, the husband-and-wife duo bring a fresh and distinctive perspective to the song, which features the inimitable John Jorgenson (Desert Rose Band, Earl Scruggs, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John, Luciano Pavarotti, Bob Dylan, and many others) on guitar.
Chris Hillman shares his excitement about the rendition, “I absolutely love Darin and Brooke Aldridge’s wonderful version of my song ‘Price I Pay’. I am truly honored, as I know my co-writer, the late Bill Wildes would be, too. Excellent production by my pal, Mark Fain. This is a great record…..smokin’ red hot!”
John Jorgenson adds, “’Price I Pay’ holds a special spot in my musician’s heart, as it was used as a “barn-burning set-closer” for nearly every Desert Rose Band (DRB) concert from 1986-1991. It started with a short, mood-setting electric guitar intro that morphed over the years into a full-fledged feature. When Darin and Brooke invited me to recreate that part for their new acoustic version of the song, I immediately and emphatically said, “yes!”. Two challenges faced me then-first, to create a similar feeling guitar part including some of the original licks, but using an acoustic guitar without the delay effect I’d used on the DRB version, and, secondly, to complete the recording in a timely manner when I was going to be in Australia! Thankfully both things worked out, and I was able to record my guitar and the harmony vocals in my hotel room in Brisbane. What a treat it is to sing a third vocal part along with the special blend that Darin and Brooke are known for and to be part of such a successful re-imagining of Chris Hillman’s DRB classic. Special thanks to Mark Fain for his mixing skills. Nobody would ever know by listening that we were recording on separate continents!”
As the duo reimagined “Price I Pay,” Brooke and Darin infused the track with their signature style, creating a rendition that unmistakably stands out within the music landscape.
Darin and Brooke added, “We have loved ‘Price I Pay’ since we heard The Desert Rose Band’s cut from the late ‘80s. The lyrics really hit home, taking us back to our dating days. We were willing to pay the price for love and wanting to be with each other, even if sometimes it meant being away from each other for longer than we would’ve liked. These days, being married and sharing the same musical career, we no longer have to worry about that! What an honor to work on this song with the legendary John Jorgenson. Get your replay button ready. We hope ‘Price I Pay’ will be stuck in your head for a long time!”

DAVE ADKINS & BILLY BLUE RECORDS RELEASE DEBUT SINGLE, "BAD MOON RISING"
By Charles Brady, 2023-08-11
Dave Adkins, the celebrated singer, songwriter, and guitarist, has carved an enduring career in the Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel music industries. And now, as the newest artist to join the Billy Blue Records family, he’s releasing his debut single with an old, familiar song performed in an exciting, barn-burning, brand-new way: “Bad Moon Rising.”
Taking a cue from Credence Clearwater Revival, Adkins tackled the old Rock and Roll hit by recording it at an incredible speed. 180 bpm, to be exact.
In his own words, “We took one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite old bands and got the idea from Curly Ray Cline's son, Timmy Cline. Timmy’s band recorded the song 30 years ago. We recorded it at 180 bpm and put the 'drive' in it. The musicians put everything they had into the track and blistered it! I could not be happier with the way it turned out. It’s a dream come true to have Jerry Salley and Billy Blue in my corner! Hope you all enjoy my favorite cut to date!"
In August 2023, Adkins embarked on an exciting new chapter by signing with Billy Blue Records, after becoming a prominent figure in the music industry. His remarkable, powerhouse vocal talents, paired with his exceptional songwriting abilities, have garnered him a slew of awards, nominations, and chart-topping hits.
Honing his craft on the stages of Dollywood as a teenager, Adkins’ talents were soon recognized with the prestigious title of Kentucky Colonel, an accolade recognizing exceptional contributions and service.
While his journey took diverse paths, including solo country shows and rock band performances, Adkins found his way back to his roots in 2010 with the formation of Dave Adkins & Republik Steele. Since then, there have been several reincarnations of his bluegrass bands, and these days he’s affectionately known simply as “Big” Dave Adkins.
In 2022, he was given a SPBGMA Male Vocalist of the Year nomination, a testament to his enduring impact on the genre.
His music continues to inspire, gaining him countless fans with his unwavering passion and extraordinary talent. Stay tuned for more of the musical brilliance of Dave Adkins.
