Hurricane - Kristy Cox

Nashville, Tenn. (February 20, 2026) – Acclaimed bluegrass artist Kristy Cox is set to release her powerful new single, “Hurricane,” on February 20. The track arrives via Billy Blue Records and marks Cox’s first new music of 2026.

Co-written by Cox and her labelmate, Bob Minner, “Hurricane” explores the emotional terrain of transformation — leaning into uncertainty, growth, and the courage it takes to embrace life’s unexpected turns. With heartfelt lyrics and Cox’s unmistakable vocal clarity, the song delivers both vulnerability and strength, capturing a season of personal change through a soaring bluegrass lens.

“I’m so excited to be releasing new music. ‘Hurricane’ was written with my friend, Bob Minner, and is all about getting ready for and embracing change. The last two years of my life have brought more change than I ever expected, and this song became a way of leaning into that instead of fighting it. I’m incredibly proud of this one and can’t wait for you to hear it,” says Kristy Cox.

“Hurricane” showcases Cox’s signature blend of contemporary storytelling and traditional roots, reinforcing her reputation as one of bluegrass music’s most authentic and emotionally resonant voices. The release follows a period of major personal and creative evolution for Cox, making this single a defining moment in her current chapter.

Chorus
Is that a storm on the horizon or just our memories
Clouding up my mind with the way things used to be
I thought by now the skies would clear up
But the forecast still says pain
I don’t mind the winds of change
But I don’t need a hurricane

"Hurricane"
Written by Kristy Cox and Bob Minner

LOVE, LOSS, AND THE LONG ROAD: KRISTY COX'S NEW SINGLE HITS HOME

NASHVILLE, TN (September 12, 2025) – Billy Blue Records is proud to announce the release of the latest radio single from award-winning bluegrass artist Kristy Cox, titled “Broke Down in Georgia.” The new track showcases Kristy’s unmistakable voice and ability to fuse traditional roots with a modern emotional edge, continuing the momentum of her celebrated Let It Burn album.

Written by Mickey Cates and Tony Ramey, “Broke Down in Georgia” tells the story of a road trip gone wrong—and a heart unraveling right along with it. With vivid imagery of passing headlights, breakdown lanes, and emotional detours, the song captures the weight of lost love and the quiet ache of not being as far down the road as you thought you’d be.

“With 'Broke Down in Georgia,' I got to do what I love most—take the bones of a country lyric and breathe bluegrass into it,” Kristy shares. “What excites me about this track is the double meaning tucked in the lyrics. On the surface it’s about breaking down on the road, but underneath it’s about life and love wearing you down. That mix of grit and heart is why this song feels so personal to me.”

Billy Blue Records A&R/Creative Director Jerry Salley agrees, noting, “Kristy’s new single, 'Broke Down in Georgia,' is a wonderful example of the right song for the right artist at the right time. Her delivery of this lyric and melody is one of her very best performances.”

“Broke Down in Georgia” follows the release of “Front Porch of Paradise,” "The Wrong Girl," and the fiery title track “Let It Burn,” all of which have resonated strongly with radio programmers and listeners alike. With each single, Kristy Cox continues to deliver the honest, emotionally driven bluegrass she’s known for—and this latest offering may be her most powerful yet.

NASHVILLE, TENN (Sept. 6, 2024) – Bluegrass sensation and Billboard top charting artist Kristy Cox announces her new single to radio, “Front Porch of Paradise” and premiere of the official music video set to debut on Bluegrass Today. This announcement comes on the heels of her latest album, Let It Burn, which recently claimed the coveted #1 spot on the Billboard Charts. Listen HERE.

Set to hit radio airwaves, the track has already captured the attention of listeners for its classic bluegrass sound and rich storytelling, celebrating the beauty of life’s simple pleasures. Songwriters Marcy Each, Susan Anderegg, and Jerry Salley blend their collective talents to create a heartfelt tribute to home.

A&R/creative director of Billy Blue Records and co-writer, Jerry Salley stated, “Growing up in the country, I guess I always took for granted how blessed I was - until I moved away from home. The lush green fields, the beautiful rows of silver queen corn, half-runner green beans and big boy tomatoes we grew were all just natural to me and my family. We called it ‘God’s Country’. A few years ago, while I was in Iowa teaching a songwriting workshop at the Strawberry Jam Camp in Strawberry Point, Iowa, one of our attendees, Marcy Each,  had a great idea for a song that she called ‘Front Porch of Paradise’. She had started the song with another attendee there, Susan Anderegg, as they were paired up to co-write together at the workshop.”

He continued, “When they told me the title, I knew EXACTLY where they were coming from and I grabbed my guitar, as they were struggling a little on a melody. We worked on it together until we loved it. Luckily, when I pitched the song to Kristy for her most recent album, it also reminded her of her childhood growing up just outside of her hometown of Adelaide, South Australia. I’m so happy she loved it, because she sings the song with such beautiful conviction and has made it her own.”

Kristy Cox shared, “I loved ‘Front Porch of Paradise’ the first time I heard it. I grew up on the outskirts of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia, and have always felt more at home in the country. This song is one of those that I feel I could have written about myself, it was so easy for me to relate to it. I love the melody and the lyrics and am so thankful that Jerry, Marcy, and Susan let me record their song.”

Be sure to watch the premier of the music video on Bluegrass Today.
