Michael Mize: A Nashville Christian Country Artist
Michael Mize is a notable figure in the Nashville Christian Country music scene. Hailing from Somerset, Kentucky, Mize is often compared to Michael McDonald for his rich, smooth voice and distinct look. He has made a significant impact with his heartfelt and spiritually uplifting music.
Mize has released several singles, including "I See You There," which showcases his ability to blend traditional country sounds with Christian themes. His music often resonates deeply with listeners, reflecting his southern roots and gentlemanly demeanor (Apple Music - Web Player) (RadioMusicDJ).
Mize's work is well-received within the Nashville Christian Country music community, which is known for its collaborative and supportive environment. Mike has been an active part of that family.
Recently, RadioMusicDJ received a heartbreaking message from Michael's record label: "It’s with such a broken heart, I want to let you know Mike Mize was just admitted to Hospice in the hospital. His wife Juanita says he doesn’t seem to be in pain, but is no longer responsive."

NASHVILLE, TN – June 28, 2024 – Billy Blue Records is thrilled to announce the release of Dave Adkins' latest single, “She Put The Go In Gone.” This energetic track, paired with the Kentucky native’s powerful voice, leaves listeners grinning as he tells the tale of a woman who is more than finished with a worn-out relationship. Co-written by Adkins’ producer, Jerry Salley, and acclaimed country songwriter, Brent Baxter, the song brings a playful twist to the relatable, yet not-so-happy theme of “leaving.”
This new release builds on the success of Dave’s earlier hit, “What I’m For,” which dominated the Bluegrass Unlimited Singles Chart, maintaining a top 5 spot for several months. Both singles are featured on Dave’s January album release, also titled What I’m For.
"‘She Put The Go In Gone’ was the very first song I chose for my new project, and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do. I am grateful to have the chance to record such a well-written, hard-driving 'leaving' song," says Dave Adkins.
Jerry Salley, Billy Blue’s Creative Director, shares his enthusiasm: “Dave Adkins sings this song like it was written for him! As a writer and producer, I feel like his voice perfectly captures the storyline of this high-energy, ‘I’m-out-of-here-and-ain’t-comin’-back,’ scenario. The smoking track complements Dave’s big vocals for sure!”
Chorus:
She put the “go” in gone
The “so” in so long
The wind blowing through her pretty blonde hair
Saw the “good” in goodbye
And didn’t even cry
When she put the “done” in his last done-her-wrong
She put the “go” in gone
Climb in the passenger seat as Dave Adkins narrates the story of a woman driving away, seeking new beginnings as she “puts more past behind her with every mile she puts on her old Ford.”
She Put the Go In Gone

REMAKE OF CHRIS HILLMAN/BILL WILDES-PENNED DESERT ROSE BAND CLASSIC AND FEATURES LEGENDARY VIRTUOSO GUITARIST JOHN JORGENSON
NASHVILLE, TENN. (February 9, 2024) -- Acclaimed musical duo Darin and Brooke Aldridge are set to captivate audiences once again with their soulful rendition of Chris Hillman's (Desert Rose Band) classic, "Price I Pay” (aka "The Price I Pay"). Known for their exceptional vocal harmonies and instrumental expertise, the husband-and-wife duo bring a fresh and distinctive perspective to the song, which features the inimitable John Jorgenson (Desert Rose Band, Earl Scruggs, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John, Luciano Pavarotti, Bob Dylan, and many others) on guitar.
Chris Hillman shares his excitement about the rendition, “I absolutely love Darin and Brooke Aldridge’s wonderful version of my song ‘Price I Pay’. I am truly honored, as I know my co-writer, the late Bill Wildes would be, too. Excellent production by my pal, Mark Fain. This is a great record…..smokin’ red hot!”
John Jorgenson adds, “’Price I Pay’ holds a special spot in my musician’s heart, as it was used as a “barn-burning set-closer” for nearly every Desert Rose Band (DRB) concert from 1986-1991. It started with a short, mood-setting electric guitar intro that morphed over the years into a full-fledged feature. When Darin and Brooke invited me to recreate that part for their new acoustic version of the song, I immediately and emphatically said, “yes!”. Two challenges faced me then-first, to create a similar feeling guitar part including some of the original licks, but using an acoustic guitar without the delay effect I’d used on the DRB version, and, secondly, to complete the recording in a timely manner when I was going to be in Australia! Thankfully both things worked out, and I was able to record my guitar and the harmony vocals in my hotel room in Brisbane. What a treat it is to sing a third vocal part along with the special blend that Darin and Brooke are known for and to be part of such a successful re-imagining of Chris Hillman’s DRB classic. Special thanks to Mark Fain for his mixing skills. Nobody would ever know by listening that we were recording on separate continents!”
As the duo reimagined “Price I Pay,” Brooke and Darin infused the track with their signature style, creating a rendition that unmistakably stands out within the music landscape.
Darin and Brooke added, “We have loved ‘Price I Pay’ since we heard The Desert Rose Band’s cut from the late ‘80s. The lyrics really hit home, taking us back to our dating days. We were willing to pay the price for love and wanting to be with each other, even if sometimes it meant being away from each other for longer than we would’ve liked. These days, being married and sharing the same musical career, we no longer have to worry about that! What an honor to work on this song with the legendary John Jorgenson. Get your replay button ready. We hope ‘Price I Pay’ will be stuck in your head for a long time!”

DAVE ADKINS & BILLY BLUE RECORDS RELEASE DEBUT SINGLE, "BAD MOON RISING"
By Charles Brady, 2023-08-11
Dave Adkins, the celebrated singer, songwriter, and guitarist, has carved an enduring career in the Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel music industries. And now, as the newest artist to join the Billy Blue Records family, he’s releasing his debut single with an old, familiar song performed in an exciting, barn-burning, brand-new way: “Bad Moon Rising.”
Taking a cue from Credence Clearwater Revival, Adkins tackled the old Rock and Roll hit by recording it at an incredible speed. 180 bpm, to be exact.
In his own words, “We took one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite old bands and got the idea from Curly Ray Cline's son, Timmy Cline. Timmy’s band recorded the song 30 years ago. We recorded it at 180 bpm and put the 'drive' in it. The musicians put everything they had into the track and blistered it! I could not be happier with the way it turned out. It’s a dream come true to have Jerry Salley and Billy Blue in my corner! Hope you all enjoy my favorite cut to date!"
In August 2023, Adkins embarked on an exciting new chapter by signing with Billy Blue Records, after becoming a prominent figure in the music industry. His remarkable, powerhouse vocal talents, paired with his exceptional songwriting abilities, have garnered him a slew of awards, nominations, and chart-topping hits.
Honing his craft on the stages of Dollywood as a teenager, Adkins’ talents were soon recognized with the prestigious title of Kentucky Colonel, an accolade recognizing exceptional contributions and service.
While his journey took diverse paths, including solo country shows and rock band performances, Adkins found his way back to his roots in 2010 with the formation of Dave Adkins & Republik Steele. Since then, there have been several reincarnations of his bluegrass bands, and these days he’s affectionately known simply as “Big” Dave Adkins.
In 2022, he was given a SPBGMA Male Vocalist of the Year nomination, a testament to his enduring impact on the genre.
His music continues to inspire, gaining him countless fans with his unwavering passion and extraordinary talent. Stay tuned for more of the musical brilliance of Dave Adkins.

Karen Peck and New River is a 2-time GMA Dove Award winner and 3-time Grammy Award Nominated Southern Gospel Group. Karen’s flawless, delightful soprano voice has made its way into the hearts of Gospel Music lovers across the country and garnered an unprecedented 11 Favorite Soprano Fan Awards. Karen, Susan and Jeff have also received many awards from other magazine publications and Internet publications. Over the past two years, New River has had five consecutive #1 songs in Southern Gospel Music.
The youngest of three daughters, Karen was exposed to the traditional sounds of Gospel Music at a very early age. Her parents often took Karen and her sisters, Susan and Sandra, to the all-night sings in Atlanta, and these concerts left an indelible mark on the youngsters who made a pact that someday they would share a musical ministry of their own.
One of the groups often featured at the Atlanta concerts was The Lefevres, who later became known as The Nelons. It would be a mild understatement to say that Karen had aspirations of singing with this talented family. In fact, that aspiration became her greatest desire, and in 1981, this dream became a reality when Karen was invited to travel with her favorite group. She remained with The Nelons for 10 years, gaining the respect of industry peers and fans alike with her exceptional vocal ability and caring personality.
Finally in 1991, the realization of yet another dream came to pass when Karen and her sister, Susan, with Karen’s husband Rickey, organized the musical entourage of Karen Peck and New River. Today the New River team consists vocally of Karen, Susan, and Jeff Hawes. Additionally, Karen’s husband, Rickey, serves as the group’s road manager and sound technician. Susan’s husband, David, is the founder and owner of the Jackson Steel Guitar Company. Dawn Hughes has traveled with the group since year 2000 as Karen Peck and New River’s assistant making New River a complete family affair.
With appearances on such prestigious stages as The Grand Ole Opry, The Gaither Homecoming concerts, Opryland Theme Park, Dollywood and Six Flags Over Georgia, New River has firmly established their place at the forefront of Southern Gospel Music. Over the past decade, they have been featured on many television networks, with appearances on TBN’s Praise The Lord, the Grand Ole Opry Live and the popular Gaither Gospel video Series. The group has enjoyed many honors and accolades. They have received numerous industry and fan award nominations. Their album “Journey of Joy” received a Grammy nomination for 2008. “Journey of Joy” was also nominated for three Dove Awards. This album has three consecutive #1 songs including “Hey”, “Last Night”, and “Whispered Prayers”. They have consistently received radio airplay at stations nationwide. Hit releases have flowed their way in bunches, and they have enjoyed many Number One songs. A few of their other popular hits include: “Hold Me While I Cry”, “Just One Touch”, “I Wanna Know”, “God Likes To Work”, “Daddy’s Home”, “When Jesus Passes By”, “God Still Answers Prayer”, and “Christian In The House”. Additionally, the group’s Number One hit, “Four Days Late”, was also named Song of the Year in 2001 and continues to be a favorite among audiences. In fact, “Four Days Late” was chosen by the Singing News as Song of the Decade (2010) as well as “I Wanna Know How It Feels,” being selected as #10 Song of the Decade.
No doubt, that same message of hope and encouragement continues to flow through the lips and lives of Karen Peck & New River with their Daywind release, Ephesians One, released in September 2008. The album, featuring #1 song “I Want To Thank You”, was nominated for a Grammy in 2009. “Each time we go into the studio to record a new album,” Karen shares, “we’re at a different place in our walk with Christ than the last time we prepared for a recording. Therefore, obviously, each recording pulls at a different heartstring, yet the message of hope is always present. That’s what life in Christ is all about. As a result of various circumstances each of us have faced over the past years, we’re at a point in our lives where we realize that anything we achieve or accomplish is all because of Christ. It is an honor to serve Him.”
Their 2009 release, “No Worries,” featured the radio hits “Why Should I worry,” “Why Can’t All God’s Children Get Along, and “Special Love,” all reaching the Top 5 on the charts. “Why Can’t All God’s Children Get Along” received at 2010 Dove Award nomination for Song of the Year, with Karen Peck Gooch receiving a Female Vocalist of the Year nomination.
The CD/DVD release “Live At Oak Tree Studio” brought the group their third Grammy nomination, receiving a 2011 nomination for Best Southern Gospel/Country Gospel/Bluegrass Album of the Year.
New River sets a new standard for musical perfection with rich vocal harmony that is shaded with the sophistication of Southern Gospel, country and progressive musical sounds. New River today stands not only as a talented and successful recording artist, but more importantly, effective messengers presenting the Gospel, through Jesus Christ.
